SEPTEMBER 12 2017 – A very foggy morning today, we headed out in very low visibility. Towards the east boats had found the southern resident orcas with members from L pod. The question was if we would loose sight of them in the fog. On scene we saw several animals traveling south in the thick fog. It was very mystical with surfacing orcas and thick fog. We got to see them very well the whole day and in the afternoon the fog lifted for a while giving us really cool light conditions. L85 “Mystery” came right up to our boat and checked us out at one point! An impressive 26 year old male orca!
