JULY 29 2017 – Humpback whales seen on our tours today. In the absent of the orcas at the moment the humpback whales are there to entertain us. Flukes coming up out of the water and big spouts makes them a wonderful sight to see. In the morning one humpback whale was traveling west close to our covered vessel Marauder IV and flukes several times going for longer dives. Researcher use photos of the underside of the fluke of a humpback to identify them to individuals, by this we can follow the whales by not interfering with them. A perfect research method, photo identification! At Race Rocks sea lions, harbor seals and the local sea otter were seen.
