MAY 26 2018 – What a day! In the morning we saw the transient killer whale family T065A’s, with the new baby calf and a breaching humpback whale in the afternoon!! You can get a good look at the new calf in the picture below in which you may notice a peachy, brown tinge to the whales skin. Every baby Orca is born with this colouration and does not gain the iconic white and black until approximately 6 months of age. This peachy, brown tinge is created because newborns lack an adequate layer of fat and therefore blood vessels are seen through their skin.
