THE NATURAL WORLD OF SOUTHERN VANCOUVER ISLAND THROUGH THE LENS OF CAPTAIN YVES- PART 9

This species of goose has a smaller bill than the Canadian goose, a darker neck and a lighter body.

Brant Geese breed in the high Arctic tundra and winters along both coasts.

A festival is held every spring to celebrate the arrival of thousands of migrating Brant geese to the shores of Parksville and Qualicum beach on Vancouver Island.

The geese come to rest and feed at these locations before continuing their journey north

The oldest recorded Brant was a female, and was over 27 years, 6 months old.
