It was a beautifully sunny day, with a crisp Fall breeze in the air. The Zodiac boat headed out into the Salish Sea in search for wildlife. The journey took us to the West and after a tactical scan of the waters the Captain’s eagle eyes did the trick, we were viewing a Humpback whale just off Sheringham point. Always a marvel to see this large animal going about its daily business and positive to see that the Humpbacks “summer” feeding season is still occurring. On the way back to Victoria, we stopped by Race Rocks Ecological Reserve where Steller Sea Lions and California Sea Lions were frolicking, and Harbour Seals were resting.

We were also treated to the majestic sight of the bald eagle! The summer may officially be over but the Salish Sea is still packed with wildlife.
