Travelling out into the Salish Sea we weren’t sure what we might find but after a wonderful sail in the sunshine we found a Humpback whale. It seemed this whale was super hungry as it kept going down for long deep dives. After a couple of looks we left the scene and kept travelling out.

Stopping opposite the Sooke area we saw yet another two Humpback whales, these two were much more playful on the water coming up for air and showing their tails to us while staying at the surface. We decided to stick around and enjoy the view so we switched our engines off so as not to disturb the whales. Oh boy were we rewarded for staying! One of the Humpbacks appeared right next to the boat- it was magical! Showing its tail and then pectoral fin to us before gliding just under the surface right next to the full length of the boat.

Everyone was lost for words as gasps and wows could be heard all around the boat!

The whale was so close you could even see the whites of its pectoral fins and its blow hole “nostrils”

Just when you think you’ve seen it all and the unexpected happened. A day to never forget for passengers and Crew. It just goes to show you how different each tour can be!
