An absolutely spectacular afternoon! We first encountered our humpback whale friend, Zillion. She has been circling the tidelines south of Victoria, feeding lots to put all the weight back on that she lost while raising her calf last year! Then as we continued our search two more humpback whales were spotted, Nike and their unidentified friend. We made our way to the southern part of San Juan island, where we got to see an interesting group of orcas. The T19s were hanging out with the T60 brothers! T19B Galiano was hanging out with T60D Onca, and T19C Spouter was with T60E Lynx closer to the shoreline. Matriarch T19 Nootka was leading the way.
