JUNE 26, 2015 – Today Marauder IV headed west to find orcas near our marine reserve, Race Rocks. However, we had a great surprise when along the way we ran into a juvenile Humpback whale!  After viewing the large baleen whale for a few surfaces, we carried on to catch up with the Transient Orcas!

The family was actively traveling and hunting in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with one very large male and a new calf.  After spending some time with these Orcas, we returned to Victoria, pausing for one last look at our Humpback whale friend.  We were given an amazing goodbye when he breached completely out of the water!  Overall, an  amazing trip.
