Humpback Whale Tail
Humpback Whale Tail

Nov 15 2015 – Today we headed south in search of Wildlife.  The sea was a bit choppy but nothing out of the ordinary.  Ian hugged the coast line all the way to Race Rocks.  The passengers enjoyed the shoreline and all the marine birds they saw along the way.  After long Ian made a stop at Race Rocks Ecological Reserve.  He was showing his passengers the beautiful lighthouse and the 100’s of Seals and Sea Lions that line the rocks at this time of year.  Within minutes of being there Captain Ian heard a distress call on the radio and immediately jumped into action.  He offloaded our passengers safely on shore at Race Rocks.  The custodians of the lighthouse helped tie up and looked after our passengers as Ian raced to the scene.

A dive boat had capsized south of Race Rocks and all 9 passengers were in the water.  Captain Ian assisted as best he could and waited with the people until they were in the safe hands of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue.  Luckily all the passengers were rescued and brought to safety at Pedder Bay.  Ian left the scene after assisting and picked up our passengers and carried on with the tour.  Ian later found a Humpback Whale for the group and headed back to the Harbour before the beautiful sunset.

RCMSAR contacted SpringTide and wanted to pass along their thanks to Captain Ian for assisting in a successful rescue of 9 passengers.  Kudos to you Ian, we’re proud to have you as part of our team!  Thank you also to the RCMSAR for keeping our Oceans safe, we appreciate all you do!
