Whale Tails
Whale Tails

JULY 8, 2016 – What was forecasted as a wet and miserable day ended up turning into a pretty fantastic one. The promised rain never came. Instead we had fluffy clouds speared by sunshine; a beautiful sight! The conditions on the sea reflected that of the sky. The Salish waters were calm and crystal clear. One of our Skippers described the ocean as looking like a big mirror.

It was just as fantastic a day with the whales and their whale tails! In the morning, we came across some lunge-feeding humpback whales; a rare and exciting sight in these waters. Needless to say, our crew were just as excited as our passengers to see this. The guests and crew also saw J-Pod, one of a favorite pods of Southern Resident killer whales. They haven’t been in our area for a little while. It was nice to catch up with them again. It’s also not everyday that we get to see two different types of whales in a trip, so everyone of our passengers were thrilled.

All in all, it was one of the best days for whale watching and weather conditions that we could have hoped for!
