The predicted rain held off enough for us to have a fabulous afternoon out on the water. Our first species was the Humpback whale! After travelling not too far South and West we came across a young humpback moving at such a distance and pace we thought it was two!

We were about 3 miles off Sooke when it turned into another two species day and we came across two family groups of Transient Killer whales. It was the T38As and T35A. Quite mesmerizing to watch their dorsal fins rise and fall as they come to the surface to breathe.

We traveled back East in the eventual drizzle but that couldn’t stop our smiles, two species of whale in one trip is always quite the spectacle!
