OCTOBER 8 2018 – We never know what we are gonna see out on our tours. Therefor it is always nice to be surprised with southern resident killer whales around Race Rock! We arrived on scene with J-pod foraging south of Race, moving slowly west. We first came across J27 “Blackberry” and his buddy L87 “Onyx”. These two big males were foraging a bit further away from the rest of the group, typical behavior for males. Even though it was raining, the whole scenery with a grey sky and two big male killer whales made for something extra. After a while we continued on and encountered several humpback whales around Race Rocks. We also had sea lions on the tour.
