AUGUST 8, 2015 – The foggy weather on the Strait of Juan de Fuca made for a beautiful feeling west coast day on the water today. We travelled east to the northern tip of San Juan Island where we caught up with our southern resident killer whales from K Pod. After watching the group travel quickly towards the south end of the island, we knew we would be meeting up with them again that day.

In the afternoon we watched K Pod near Hannah Heights on San Juan where guests were treated to 3 breaches and some pectoral slaps as the whales socialized along the island. By late afternoon the fog had lifted and we headed home on flat waters enjoying the view of our beautiful island.

The evening trip was magic, as we visited with the large male Mike as well as 2 moms and 2 calves with not another boat in sight!
