FRI DEC 12 – Although it’s December we are still seeing so much out there. We didn’t have a trip today but what a shame. J Pod was spotted from Clover Point at about 11am this morning as they slowly travelled west. Earlier this morning at about 3am they were heard on the Lime Kiln hydrophone. This means that J Pod headed down Haro Strait in the middle of the night and then crossed into the Strait of Juan De Fuca this morning cruising by Victoria’s Waterfront. Unfortunately J Pod lost another member last week. A pregnant female J32 aka Rhapsody. She was pregnant with a female calf and by the sounds of the preliminary necropsy results “it appears that the fetus had died some time before the mother and it is the likely proximate cause of the mother’s death due to difficulties in expelling it.” If you would like to read more about this report please check it out on our Twitter or Facebook Page.
