A Humpback Spy Hop

July 24, 2016 – It was a beautiful clear, hot day here in Victoria. Not a cloud in the sky! Our morning tour with our Covered Vessel, Marauder IV, captained by Ian, was followed by our High-Speed Zodiac, RipTide, skippered by Barry. Both vessels headed south, out of the harbour towards Constance Bank. Once there,┬ápassengers were greeted by the sight of 5-6 Humpback Whales. Guests were excited to see some of the Humpbacks spy hopping and rolling on the surface. From there, Ian headed the passengers towards Race Rocks where they saw Seals, Sea Lions, and one very fat Elephant Seal!

In the afternoon, Marauder IV and RipTide headed out again towards Constance Bank to catch up with the Humpback Whales. Upon arrival, passengers not only were greeted by the sight of Humpbacks but also a HUGE Fin Whale that is in the area for the first time since 1930! They got up close and personal with the gentle giant and marveled at its sheer size. Want to see more photos? Visit our Facebook Page to tag and share!
