AUGUST 20 2017 – A little bit of everything today! In the morning both our covered vessel and zodiacs found humpback whales. In the afternoon our 1 pm zodiac traveled far south to a pod of orcas and just as our 2 pm departures left the harbor news of orcas east of Victoria reached us! It was the transient orca family T11’s, mother T11 with her son T11A. They were hunting close to the rocks and the shore. At one point they were close to a swimming beach! Amazing to see and a real treat for sunbathing people on the beach.
