JUNE 3 2018 – Today we enjoyed a Humpback Whale party! In the morning our high speed zodiac went out and enjoyed an encounter with 3 Humpback Whales who were slowly traveling together. Out for a true Sunday swim! While on scene with these Whales, we enjoyed some nice flukes as they went down for some deeper dives.
In the afternoon both our high speed zodiac and our covered vessel went out and were delighted to encounter 2 Humpback Whales, different from the morning. These whales were far away, past the Sidney Airport, but everyone was keen to go the extra distance and boy were we glad we did! The whales were traveling right close to the shoreline, giving a beautiful backdrop, and they were doing short dives allowing us great viewing at the surface! As we turned the boat to head back to Victoria, one of the Humpback Whales did an amazing fluke as if to wave us goodbye! On the way home we made a stop at a haul out and got a nice look at some Harbour Seals and Bald Eagles! What a great day!
