On an overcast and a bit of a chilly Saturday, September 14 we had the pleasure of seeing this adorable humpback swim through a little patch of kelp and got it on its dorsal fin. Occasionally we do see Humpback calves that enjoy playing and rolling around in a kelp patch. This one was just cruising but it is still fun to see.
A very exciting sight to see a pod of Dall’s Porpoises. They don’t always make an appearance in the Straight of Juan De Fuca so this was absolutely amazing. There were many of them with possibly some Harbour Porpoises as well.
And we ended our trip by stopping at Race Rocks Lighthouse and Ecological Reserve on the way back to the harbour. Here a couple of California Sea Lions fighting over the top rock, not to worry they quickly got tired of arguing and cuddled up there together.
