An amazing afternoon spent with the T036As and T099B in middle channel east of San Juan Island. Eighteen year old T099B Holly lost her first known calf this winter, and has not reunited with her (usually tight-knit) family since. T036 Flapjack is suspected to be Holly’s grandmother, so on this afternoon we got to see Holly spending time with her aunt T36A Leland, and her cousins! The social bonds within this population is always fascinating to observe.
