Spyhop and Tail Slap
Spyhop and Tail Slap

This morning our Zodiac travelled out to False Bay to see J-Pod! It was easy viewing as the whales were in a resting pattern, moving slowly and grouped together. On the way back we dropped by Chatham Island to see some seals and lots of sea birds.

In the afternoon we, again, caught up with J-Pod, this time fully awake and displaying almost every type of known social behaviour! Our passengers not only saw some extraordinary full body breaching, but also, spyhopping, porpoising, tale-slapping and dorsal-fin waving! On top of all that, the whales also pulled off some great fishing, visibly catching some salmon while we were on scene. After the trip one of our passengers dropped by to let us know that it was the “trip of lifetime!” What can we say – this summer has been awesome!
