Today our tour was treated to a very special sighting of Charlie II (T049A6) with his famous underbite! At 2.5 years old he is still a playful young orca, and we’re pleased to see his underbite hasn’t affected his feeding or growth. He is named after Charlie Chin (T001), another orca with a similar underbite, who was the first transient (Biggs) killer whale ever catalogued.
Charlie II was joined by the rest of the T49A pod, headed by matriarch Nan (T049), who was believed to have been born in 1986. Charlie II is her sixth calf.
