March 14 2017 – We had a wonderfully unusual trip today with the highlight of the tour being a large Black Bear spotted on shore just east of Sooke. Our excited guests headed west today in search of Marine Mammals. They had no idea they would see one of Vancouver Island’s largest land mammals too!
Mark brought his guests west through Race Rocks Ecological Reserve where they saw lots of Seals, Sea Lions and Marine Birds. As they continued west they hugged the shore and were lucky enough to see many eagles, not to mention the huge Black Bear at Whirl Bay.
On Vancouver Island we have no Grizzly Bears, only Black Bears. But these critters are seen regularly along the shores of the wild west coast. Although it is not unusual to see Black Bears when on land we feel very lucky to have seen one on our trip today.
Join SpringTide for a tour. You never know what you’ll see!
