The day started off a little overcast. The clouds were hanging around town but we didn’t stick around for long, as we headed straight out onto the water. Marauder IV & our Zodiacs off on their adventures! We sailed past a familiar sight here in Victoria at Ogden Point, a cruise ship!
We heard reports of Whales fairly far away, so we ‘put our foot down’ and headed straight for the Transient Killer Whales we hoped to find. There was excitement on board as we picked up speed and eagerly held our binoculars & cameras. Soon enough, we arrived on scene. We were then privileged to witness some amazing sightings.
We bobbed alongside the Orcas and watched them in admiration near Freshwater Bay. We recognized the pod of Whale’s as the T99’s and they were incredibly playful. We also saw 2 unknown animals, U83 & U84. After a long search it was such a treat!
We all watched in awe. It was a wonderful display of playful behavior, everyone was delighted! It is always such a treat to watch the Whales being so playful in their natural environment.
After spending a long time enjoying these animals, we turned back towards Victoria. We stopped closer to the shore to watch Harbour Seals and Sea Lions resting on the rocks. Race Rocks Ecological Reserve is a favourite hang out spot for Seals & Sea Lions. The latter you often hear before you see! We headed back to Victoria, showing each other our photos and re-living the wonderful moments spent with the Whales.
