It was a typical fall day here in Victoria, but the intermittent drizzle did not dampen our searching efforts. We headed out into the Salish see with gusto on our Zodiac boat. It did not take us long to find our first whale species, a Humpback whale, diving and surfacing by Race Rocks Ecological reserve.
It was a beautiful site to see this animal flick its tail before going on the prosperous search for nutrients underwater.
We rounded the trip off with a stop at Race Rocks Ecological Reserve where it was Sea Lion galore. The sight, sound and smell of them were unavoidable! The more reserved Harbour Seals were also a treat to view, a tiny marine mammal compared to the epic sized Humpback we viewed earlier in the trip. A great time was had by all and the wildlife was certainly present.
