Killer Whale Breaching!
Killer Whale Breaching!

APRIL 23, 2016 – Today was a slightly cloudy and cooler day in Victoria BC, but that did not mean we didn’t have a good day on the water, quite the opposite in fact!

Captain Ian took a group of excited passengers out on FasTide, one of our high-speed Zodiac boats, in search of whales and other marine wildlife. They headed towards Dungeness Spit and found three pods of Transient Killer Whales (T49’s, T65’s and T123’s) East of Port Angeles, about three miles off the US Coast! These Killer Whales were putting on a fantastic show for our passengers – breaching, rolling and acting very playfully. This is not the type of behavior we get to see from Transient Killer Whales every day, so it was incredibly exciting for our passengers to experience this!

After watching the Transients play around for a quite awhile, and getting lots of good photographs, Captain Ian brought everybody back into the Harbour just before it started to rain. What perfect timing!
