Great Blue Heron with Victoria Whale Watching
Great Blue Heron

FRI FEB 24 – Today started off a weekend of Wildlife!  Today our 9am tour was lucky enough to spend some time with the first Humpback Whale we have seen this year.  Captain Ian found the Whale just south of Victoria, off Albert Head.  They spent maybe 40 minutes with it before it vanished underneath the Ocean’s surface.  It was a great find and shows us that the Humpbacks are slowly on their way back to Vancouver Island 🙂

SAT FEB 25 – Captain Ian headed out again today in search of more critters.  Today’s trip was treated to an array of Sea Birds, some Bald Eagles, a Great Blue Heron and lots of Seals and Sea Lions at Race Rocks.  It was a clear day and the rain stayed away for the duration.

SUN FEB 26 – Our 1pm trip headed out, once again with Captain Ian at the helm!  We had a brave bunch of 12 head out on an open Zodiac on a typical rainy west coast day.  But the weather didn’t discourage Ian or his guests and within 20 minutes or so they were watching a group of Transient Killer Whales hunting Seals at Race Rocks.

All of our trips this weekend were a great success yet all were so different.  It just shows you the abundance of wildlife that can be seen around these parts even in the winter months.
