Katie is from the Niagara Region in Ontario. She attended the University of Guelph where she studied Zoology. During her university summers, she worked at Lake Huron where she learned to scuba dive and then eventually became a first mate on a shipwreck/island tour boat. “I admired the Salish Sea from afar for a few years, learning as much as I could while dreaming of merging my mariner career with my passion for wildlife and being a naturalist.” Katie finally moved to Vancouver Island in September 2022 with her husband and beloved 15 year old cat! “My favorite fact is that the Salish Sea is one of the most biologically rich inland seas in the world! I have so much gratitude for my time exploring it with our guests and building connection, respect, and admiration for this ecological jewel and its extraordinary inhabitants.”
