Wildlife Tours are offered mid October through mid April
Whales and wildlife are never far away! October through to early April provides us with a glimpse of what happens in nature during the spectacular late fall and wintertime off Vancouver Island.
Bird-watching and a visit to Race Rocks, Canada’s first Marine Protected Park, to view our fascinating, noisy, aromatic Sea Lion population is just the ticket in these cooler months.
You might be lucky enough to see some members of the Transient Killer Whale population or Humpback Whales who are known to swim in the waters near Victoria in these months.
Victoria BC, on Vancouver Island is surrounded by some of the most beautiful seascapes the west coast of British Columbia has to offer. There is a tremendous experience awaiting you – every day is an adventure!
Victoria Wildlife is spectacular!
Sea Lions (California and Steller), weighing up to 700 kilograms, lie on the rocks catching the last rays of the sunshine after a hard day of fishing. Seals with great brown eyes lazily watch as you quietly take their picture. Dall’s Porpoise speedily dart to and fro off the bow of your boat.
Bald eagles swoop down and land on a rock face overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Marine birds, such as the Great Blue Heron might be stalking prey in clear turquoise waters in a quiet cove. Cormorants dry their wings resting by lighthouses, craggy rock archipelagos, and unique ecosystems which are part of what contribute to make the Pacific Northwest so famous.
These marine mammals and birds are surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery found in the world. Photographic opportunities are incredible, as the Naturalist onboard describes the surroundings and provides you with the ecological background to the beautiful environment you are viewing.
